On July 22, NAAM hosted a vibrant and heartwarming celebration at Lynn Commons, marking our “Health and Community Day” just after World Refugee Day. The event was a beautiful opportunity for our clients, staff, and their families to come together, relax, and enjoy each other’s company. It was a day filled with laughter, joy, and a true sense of community.

The atmosphere was electric with various activities bringing smiles to everyone’s faces. Our Ukrainian clients, Iryna and Eugeniia, led engaging sessions in rock painting and flower crown making, adding colorful creativity to the day. Salam Abbas from Iraq played an eclectic mix of music that had everyone singing and dancing, with our own Cameroonian Case Manager, Julie Nkangwa, dazzling everyone with her fabulous dance moves.

The air was filled with delicious smells as NAAM staff and clients shared food from their home countries. We were delighted to enjoy a culinary tour from Peru, Ukraine, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, El Salvador, Guatemala, Brazil, Honduras, Morocco, and Afghanistan. Generous donations from local restaurants added to the feast, showcasing the rich diversity of our community.

A highlight of the day was the free raffle, made possible by our generous community donors. Clients won gift cards to local businesses, and children were thrilled with gift bags full of games, books, and art supplies.

The event was beautifully organized by Paola Colunga, a dedicated NAAM Case Manager, with invaluable assistance from Mathias Munoz, Melanie Duque, Matthew Alaniz, and many other staff members. “This event is my greatest joy and it gives me a lot of satisfaction,” shared Paola. “It makes me happy to be able to do these things for the community.”

We extend our deepest gratitude to our sponsors and community partners for their generous support:
