Nancy Sullivan
ESL/Citizenship Programs
Nancy Sullivan is an ESL/Citizenship Volunteer at NAAM.
After graduating from Framingham State College with a B.S. in Education
she joined the Peace Corps and volunteered in Brazil.
For twenty-five years Nancy taught Life Skills/Health in the Newburyport
Middle School, retiring in 2002. During that time she completed the
Commonwealth Adult Literacy Campaign Training and tutored at the
Haverhill Library. She was also very active in local Sister City programs in
rural Kenya.
After retiring, she completed a TESOL Certificate (Teaching of English to
Speakers of Other Languages) from the School for International Training
and a CELTA-Level 4 Certificate (Certificate in English Language Teaching
to Adults) from the University of Cambridge (UK).
For seven years she taught for the International Rescue Committee in
Chelsea and Lynn until IRC closed their Boston office. She then facilitated
Conversation Classes at Operation Bootstrap in Lynn until 2012 when she
began to volunteer at the New American Association of Massachusetts.
