Amanda Sullivan

Employment & Education Services Program Manager, Lowell Office

Amanda Sullivan joined NAAM in May 2017 to establish a satellite office for the organization in the historic immigrant city of Lowell, MA. Since that time the office has grown in staff, responsibility, and impact in the community. She leads the effort to support families by providing English and citizenship classes, cultural orientation, skills training, job placement and retention efforts, as well as removing any barriers to success such as the ongoing need for reliable and accessible childcare, safe housing, and immigration resources.

Prior to NAAM, the majority of Amanda’s professional experience was as an educator in Puerto Rico, Connecticut, and Massachusetts, most recently teaching ESOL at Chelmsford High School. She also worked in children’s book publishing and ran an arts & crafts business. She has held leadership positions with many nonprofit community organizations that support families in need, including the regional Acton Food Pantry and the Doli Atamian Campership Program. Amanda earned a B.A. in English and Education at Vassar College, and her teaching credentials in two states.

Amanda enjoys helping newcomers become self-sufficient, integrated, happy members of American society, and is grateful for the opportunity to learn and grow alongside them.
